UDD will march to Parliament to meet PM

BANGKOK, 18 March 2010 (NNT) – The United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) core leader Natthawut Saikua has announced the group will travel to Parliament if Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva travels there to attend a meeting today.

Mr Natthawut confirmed that the visit would be nonviolent. Another UDD core figure Adisorn Piangket vowed that the PM and his ministers would be prevented from working at Government House and warned the government not to close People’s Channel, the pro-UDD cable TV.

The move follows the UDD’s unsuccessful attempts to oust the Democrat-led government by pouring blood in front of Government House, the Democrat Party head office and the Prime Minister’s residence on Sukhumvit 31 yesterday.

The police said the protesters who tossed blood at the PM’s home would face legal action. Media footage will be used as evidence to prosecute them.
