BANGKOK, 6 May 2010 (NNT) — The Department of Agricultural Extension (DOAE) in corporation with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Commerce Ministry will hold the “Thai Fruits Fair in ASEAN”, in Vietnam to promote Thai fruits in the ASEAN market.

According to the Director–General of DOAE, Ath Intharak, the fair aims to showcase and create awareness of Thailand’s fruit produce to Vietnam, such as durian, rambutan, mango, salacca, mangosteen, Pisang Mas banana (kluay khai) and coconut.

Approximately 7-8 tons of fruits has been transported to Vietnam for the fair, Mr Att said.

“Thai Fruit Fairs in ASEAN” is held under the “Made in Thailand Outlet 2010” exhibition in Hanoi from 5-8 May 2010.

The fair also provides an opportunity to sell fruits and fairgoers can taste the fruits, Mr Ath said. He further added that the fair opens an opportunity for Thai agriculture.

The DOAE director-general commented that Vietnam will become a vital market for Thai fruit exports as a channel to penetrate other markets such as southern and eastern China. The Thai ambassador to Vietnam is involved in the process, helping to create important networks and relationships with neighboring countries to push Thai fruit produce to the Chinese market, the DOAE director-general said.
