THAI dropped its expected benefits

BANGKOK, 6 September 2009 (NNT) – The Executive Board of Thai Airways International (THAI) dropped its expected incomes this year from 170 billion baht to 135 billion baht or 10% lower than last year’s incomes.

Mr. Parit Buppakham, an executive of THAI, said the reduction of the expected profit was due to several factors such as the global economic turmoil, the political situation in the country and the company’s 10% reduction of total flights. However, he had ordered the station heads in foreign countries to collect information of flight schedules of THAI and its rivals in order to form new marketing strategies which were expected to finish in October. He added that THAI was planning to sell more tickets via the internet as it allowed 24-hours ticket selling and increased profit per unit.

He also stated that the company was looking to add its flights and to seek more cooperation with other airlines. He said that as of 25 October, one daily flight from Bangkok to Oslo would be available every day. Prior to this, only four flights to Oslo per week were available.
