Thai and Cambodian armies to withdraw excess troops from border
BANGKOK, 3 July 2009 (NNT) – Thailand and Cambodia will today reduce the number of troops stationed along the Preah Vihear Temple to ease tensions that have been building for several days.
Deputy PM Suthep Thaugsuban said the Thai Government hoped that the troop withdrawal will soothe growing stress over the border dispute. Mr Suthep asked the public to not worry about the current situation, assuring that his discussions with the Cambodian Prime Minister had yielded solutions that will satisfy both nations.
The Deputy PM is scheduled to meet with the Cambodian Prime Minister again tomorrow.
