BANGKOK, 13 February 2010 (NNT) – Security has been increased at Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva’s residence on Sukhumvit 31 road today after bags of excrement were thrown into the house on 1 February.

Ten additional CCTVs have been installed with metal fences surrounding the house. Police officers from Thonglor Police Station and the Metropolitan Police Bureau are patrolling the area.

A man accused of throwing bags of excrement and fermented fish over to the Prime Minister’s house was arrested yesterday after investigators checked footage from the CCTVs near the house. He is identified as Wiwitthawin Tiaosawat, 43, an antique seller in the Lat Phrao area. The court sentenced him to a 10-day jail term, but later reduced it to five days.
