SCB maintains loan growth at 3-5%

BANGKOK, 10 July 2009 (NNT) – Mrs Kannikar Chalitarporn, the Managing Director of Siam Commercial Bank Public Company Limited (SCB), said her bank still maintained the loan target for the whole year at three to five percent.

Mrs Kannikar admitted the SCB’s business lending had been sluggish as the demand for loans in business sector remains low and the recovery of global economy remains uncertain.

Mrs Kannikar assured that SCB desired to release loans to its prospective customers at all times, and the borrower who would get the loans should be desirable candidates to the bank.

As for the bank’s non-performing loans (NPL), Mrs. Kannikar said the SCB could curb its size, adding that its exact size had not yet been known as the announcement date on its performance was approaching.
