UDD files complaint against PM, Justice Minister

By k on January 19, 2010

BANGKOK, 19 January 2010 (NNT) – The anti-government United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD), on Tuesday, presented a letter to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) seeking legal action against Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and Justice Minister Pirapan Salirathavibhaga on their attempts to delay the process of a royal pardon for former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra as requested by the UDD.

The letter was submitted by UDD core figures Mr Veera Musikhapong, Mr Jatuporn Promphan, Mr Arisman Pongrueangrong and Mr Nathawut Saikua to DSI secretary-general Tarit Pengdit, during a peaceful rally outside the DSI building amid tight security. The group believed that the DSI would be impartial in handling the case and would not pressure or interfere in the work of the department. <

The Prime Minister on Monday defended that all relevant authorities have complied with the rules and regulations and are currently in the process of verifying the list of three million signatures who sought a royal amnesty for Mr Thaksin.
