Suthep assures no contact with Thaksin

BANGKOK, 3 September 2009 (NNT) – Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban declares that he has never discussed with former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra as speculated, while confirming the Democrat Party did not create rumor to form the government with the Puea Thai Party and allow the ex-premier to return to Thailand.

Mr Suthep has confirmed that he has never had contact with the former Prime Minister but was ready to talk with any side in order to restore a peaceful political situation, while urging the media, the general public, and politicians to believe in the future reconciliation although the ex-Prime Minister had rejected negotiations with the government by now.

In regards to the speculation that the Democrat Party would form the government with the Puea Thai Party and allow Mr Thaksin to return, Mr Suthep had rejected the possibility of such a situation.
