Mitsubishi highest sales of the past ten years with almost 7,000 units

Pathumthani- 7 June, 2011: Mitsubishi Motors Thailand reported the highest sales result in past 10 years in May 6,922 units, growing by 162% leading by Triton and Pajero Sport and announced to increase sales target in 2011 to 62,000 units due to confidence in the rapid recovery of Thai automotive industry.


Mr. Nobuyuki Murahashi, President of Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Company Limited (MMTh) reported that Mitsubishi sales volume in May hit its highest level in the past 10 years with 6,922 units, an increase of 162% compared to the same period of last and continued to dominate mainly by Triton 4,116 units, grew by 230% year on year, followed by Pajero Sport 1,950 units, grew by 143%, Lancer EX 358 units, grew by 91% and Lancer 1.6 L 413 units, grew by 41% while Space Wagon sales was down 24% to 85 units year on year. As a result, MMTh can reach 27,793 units in the first 5 months of this year or growing by 112% compared to the same period of last year.  The company has also adjusted the sales target for 2011 to 62,000 units due to confidence in many positive factors of Thai market situation.


“I’m confident that the situation of Thai Auto Industry will be improved and become lively again in the 2nd half of this year. For Mitsubishi, though there should be more fierce competition among car makers, but I still believe that at the end of the year MMTh should enjoy the continue good sales, so we’ve set the new sales target for 2011 at 62,000 units from our confidence in some key factors. First is the good sales performance in the first 5 months from our promptness in production at LCB thanks to strong support from MMC, our father company in Japan who put Thailand for priority and provide full support for MMTh production which help we can produce and deliver vehicle timely together with the right product line up that meet market demand such as  Triton and Pajero Sport 2.5 VG, Triton CNG and Lancer CNG or even Lancer EX which now become more popular. Other key factors are the good sales momentum that will continue in the second half combines with the introduction of new vehicles especially Mitsubishi Global Small which will certainly satisfy Mitsubishi Fan and the new marketing communication way that we use presenters to help communicate with target customers along with offering of various special sales campaign continuously. Those reasons make we are more positive in our sales and confident that MMTh will be able to break the record over past 15 years with 62,000 units at the end of the year.” Mr. Murahashi expressed.
