Labour Minister urges Thai workers to seek employments in international market

BANGKOK, 2 March 2010 (NNT) — The Minister of Labour instructed the Department of Employment (DOE) and the Department of Skill Development to promote Thai workforces in the international market.

Semi-skilled and skilled Thai labours have been promoted to work abroad for the enhancement of Thai workforce’s reputation. According to the report by DOE, the number of persons registered for working abroad is up year-on-year by 23.30%.

5,526 Thai workers had been sent abroad. 2,252 were sent to Taiwan, 760 to Qatar, 602 to Israel, 373 to Japan and 228 to Libya.

Income earned by the overseas workforce remitted through the Bank of Thailand was about 4.728 billion THB, up from the same period last year by 1.96%.
