Industry Ministry expediting projects under Strong Thailand Scheme

BANGKOK, 28 May 2010 (NNT) – The Industry Ministry’s projects under the Strong Thailand Scheme are accelerated in both quantitative and qualitative aspects, aiming at a concrete economic development.

Permanent Secretary for Industry Witoon Simachokdee stated that the four projects under the Strong Thailand Scheme had been moved forward in accordance with the 2010 budget plan. A budget has been utilized in each project appropriately in line with the Ministry’s policy to enhance the country’s competitiveness and the people’s living standard.

The four projects include the project of industrial product testing laboratory development, the value adding for Thai food industry, the project to promote SMEs, and the industrial promotion project for the cold storage cooperative and the fruits and vegetables central market in Pattani province.

Mr Witoon said that all projects progressed by 50%, while allocated budget would be completely disbursed within this September. He added that the country had faced several aspects of crisis, thus necessitating the investments in required tools and devices in order to heighten the investment efficiency among private and government sectors in the long run.
