The 41st ASEAN Economic Ministers Meeting (AEM)

BANGKOK, Aug 13 (TNA) – The 41st ASEAN Economic Ministers Meeting (AEM) and related meetings starts Thursday in Thailand’s capital of Bangkok under tight security.
The meeting is hosted by Thai government as chairman of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) from August 13-16 at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok Hotel under the theme “Walk Together, Work Together towards AEC.”
High level officials from the 10 ASEAN-member countries on Wednesday have begun discussing and setting up economic policies and topics before submitting to the ministers.
Meanwhile, ASEAN economic ministers will meet Thursday and Friday.
The ministerial meeting is expected to establish economic policies both in the region and with its dialogue partners and to enhance the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
The ASEAN ministers also is scheduled to meet with their six dialogue partners, including China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and India from August 14-16 to boost economic and trade investment between ASEAN and other countries.
The meeting will focus on looking into directions for the grouping to achieve the establishment of AEC in 2015.
The results of the meeting will boost confidence among investors and facilitate investment and production plans.
The cooperation of the ASEAN will promote regional single market and production base and remove obstacles in trade and investment. (TNA)
