Thai students win 5 Int´l Astronomy Olympiad medals

BANGKOK, 26 October 2009 (NNT) – Thai students have won one gold, one silver and two bronze medals at the 3rd International Astronomy Olympiad held in Tehran, Iran.
The Thai students’ academic achievement was revealed by Dr. Yenjai Somvichian of the Promotion of Academic Olympiads and Development of Science Education Foundation under the Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra.
The Thai participants had won one gold, one silver and two bronze medals at the 3rd International Astronomy Olympiad hosted by the Iranian government. Mr. Natthanan Tantivassadaka from Suankularb Wittayalai School won the gold medal, while Mr. Tanawut Tanatibodi from the same school won the silver medal. Three students who won the bronze medals include Mr. Taveevat Sonboonpunyakul from Mahidol Wittayanusorn School, Mr. Puthiwat Kongkeaw from Chiangmai University Demonstration School as well as Mr. Yossathorn Tavabutre from Suankularb Wittayalai School
The team was led by Dr. Saton Vijarnwannaluk from Chulalongkorn University as well as Mr. Artit Lapirattanakul from Chiang Mai University. Tomorrow, all participants will board flight EK 372 from Iran and land at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 18.40 hrs.
