Thai physicians win AMEE awards

BANGKOK, 20 September 2009 (NNT) – Thai medical doctors have won 3 outstanding awards from the 2009 Association for Medical Education of Europe Conference (AMEE) in Málaga, Spain, according to Permanent Secretary for Public Health Prat Boonyavongvirot.
The 2009 AMEE took place from 29 August to 2 September 2009. It was attended by more than 2,300 physicians from 81 countries worldwide. The medical meeting featured AMEE awards for outstanding academic works on medical education. Medical doctors from Thailand sent 7 projects to contest the awards from the total submission of 450.
MD Phaphan Musikawat from Maharaj Nakhonsithammarat Hospital’s Medical Education Center won the AMEE Patil Award in assessment, MD Kiatsak Rajborirug from Hatyai Hospital’s Medical Education Center received the award in in teaching and learning, and MD Surapon Ariyanukitja won the AMEE Poster Quiz award.
The AMEE awards are bestowed by the Association for Medical Education in Europe for outstanding works in 5 categories, including curriculum planning/evaluation, assessment, teaching and learning, student issues, and research in medical education. The prizes given are certificates, memberships in the association, and a 1-year medical education journal.

Grenade attack wounds two soldiers in Bangkok army unit
