Senate Speaker urges Thais to be good host of 30th AIPA

BANGKOK, 1 August 2009 (NNT) – Senate Speaker Prasobsuk Boondet urges Thai people to be a good host of the 30th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).
Senate Speaker Prasobsuk Boondet, as head of Thai representatives attending the meeting, said that the 30th AIPA will be taking place from 2 to 8 August at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort, Pattaya, Chon Buri province. Representatives of 8 ASEAN member countries, 9 observing countries, 1 organization, and Timor-Leste, totaling 250 people, will participate in the assembly.
The 30th AIPA has the objective to develop cooperation between ASEAN Parliaments and determine the social role of ASEAN for the establishment of the ASEAN Community in 2015. The Senate Speaker said the meeting was a good opportunity for Thailand to restore confidence of foreigner.
Mr Prasobsuk said a security committee had been set up to provide maximum security for the delegates.
