Public Health Ministry ready to tackle 2nd phase of H1N1 outbreak thumbnail

BANGKOK, 18 August 2009 (NNT) – Deputy Public Health Minister, Manit Nop-amornbodi, has expressed the ministry’s readiness to deal with the 2nd phase of the influenza A (H1N1) outbreak expected to take place in late August this year.

Mr. Manit said the ministry had prepared measures to deal with another round of swine flu outbreak in the Kingdom. He added that the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) had been assigned to take charge of the vaccine production which met international standards and study Oseltamivir resistance.

According to the deputy minister, swine flu patients will be quarantined for only 3 to 5 days instead of 7 days.
