Phuket Governor visits 6 communities before the ASEAN meeting thumbnail

PHUKET, 16 July 2009 (NNT) – Phuket Governor Wichai Praisa-ngob visited six communities in the province to listen to their opinions on the ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting which would start in the province tomorrow.

Mr Wichai said the visit was also to ask for their cooperation in keeping the meeting in order in an effort to maintain the country’s positive image and regain international confidence in the country. In terms of the province’s readiness for the meeting, he said the Sheraton Grande Laguna Hotel Phuket which would be the meeting venue had been fully prepared in all aspects. He added the 4,000 workers of the hotel had been explained about the security measures of the authorities so that they would work in coordination with the security officials.

The security officers had been tasked to tightly provide safety to the Meeting around the clock.
