“FortiGuard Labs found the Top 3 Threats in Thailand”

Bangkok, Thailand, 15 July, 2013 – Derek Manky, Global Security Strategist from Fortinet’s FortiGuard Labs visited Thailand recently and revealed that FortiGuard Labs found the Top 3 Threats in Thailand from May-June 2013 to be mobile threats, vulnerabilities and botnets.

The top mobile threats found in Thailand were via Android platform including Android/NewyearL.B which is the new mobile botnet and steals SMS messages, followed by Android/Plankton.B!tr which adapted from PC Botnet and downloads code, and lastly Android/SMSSend.G which sends SMS to premium numbers.

Top vulnerabilities were ZmEu.Vulnerability.Scanner and VMware.Server.Directory.Traversal  which helps attackers gain access to sensitive information, and Joomla.JCE.Extension.Remote.FileUpload which is a CMS system flaw and allows arbitrary script.

Top botnets found in Thailand were Vundo.Botnet which has evolved since 2004 and serves Fake AV (Scareware), ZeroAccess.Botnet and Jeefo.Botnet which evolved since 2008 and made file infector.
