BANGKOK, Thailand, 9 September, 2013 – Ford Thailand today reported August retail sales that rose 15 percent from July to 4,301 units, led by continued strength in demand for the all-new Ford Ranger and sales gains for the Ford Fiesta and the all-new Ford Focus.

Despite the slowdown across the overall industry, Ford’s year-to-date sales have risen seven percent from the same period last year to 35,451 vehicles.

“Our steady sales performance is helping drive market share gains for Ford this year, specifically with the all-new Ranger and all-new Focus nameplates. This progress reflects the widening consumer appeal for the Ford brand in Thailand and our segment-leading Ford vehicles,” explained Yukontorn ‘Vickie’ Wisadkosin, managing director, Ford Thailand.

The class-defining all-new Ranger continues to be Ford’s best-selling model in Thailand, and delivered August retail sales that increased 27 percent from the previous month to 2,632 units.

Supported by strong demand for both its automatic and manual transmission variants, year-to-date sales of the versatile Ranger have risen 35 percent from the same period last year to 18,055 units.

“We’re continuing to work hard to fulfill each order as quickly as possible through the end of the year, and have further increased production to help meet extraordinary demand for the all-new Ranger,” explained Yukontorn.

The technology-packed all-new Ford Focus – with segment-first features that include Active Park Assist, Active City Stop and Blind Spot Information System, as well as a class-leading safety package – continued to attract customers with its unmatched features and performance.

Year-to-date sales of the Focus have surged 86 percent over the same period last year to 4,142 units. This includes 394 units in the month of August, which represents seven percent of the competitive C-car segment.

The popular Ford Fiesta also delivered another strong month in August with retail sales rising slightly from July to 1,205 units.

Ford continued to outline its commitment for transforming the customer experience in Thailand in August with the introduction of “Smart Brand” and “Smart Service” offerings throughout the country.

As part of this implementation, Ford is working closely with each dealership to upgrade facilities, as well as further develop dealer staff and ‘Smart Service’ offerings so customers are treated to the same experience at all Ford dealerships nationwide.

Ford remains on track to grow its nationwide network of dealers to 140 by the end of the year, while upgrading and enhancing its showrooms to the company’s global Brand@Retail interface and design.
