EXIM Bank to consider easing loan regulations

BANGKOK, 12 August 2009 (NNT) – The Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Bank) is ready to consider easing loan regulations in an effort to exercise its business lending to reach the Ministry of Finance’s target of 37.2 billion baht.

EXIM Bank’s President, Apichai Boontherawara, said the Ministry of Finance had recently asked the EXIM Bank to extend its loan target from 19.7 billion baht to 37.2 billion baht. He said a loan worth not over 150 million baht would be approved within just 15 days from the previous duration of 30 days.

Dr. Apichai said his bank had approved loans worth 9.607 billion baht or 48.7 percent of the previous target of 19.7 billion baht or 25.8 percent of the new target from January till June 2009. He said the bank should release another three billion baht to prospective borrowers during the rest of the bank’s fiscal year in 2009.
