People in Bangkok ask for Benzine price cut thumbnail

BANGKOK, 16 August 2009 (NNT) – Suan Dusit Poll reveals positive feedback from Bangkok residents in response to the oil price reduction measure, while also requesting a cut in Benzine oil price.

Suan Dusit Poll of Suan Dusit Rajabhat Institute in cooperation with ‘Korn Tad Sin Jai’ program revealed the opinion survey of people in Bangkok and the surrounding provinces, after the government had launched energy price reduction measures.

39.76% of people said that the oil price affected their expenditure burden, 26.38% had to save their expenditure, 11.81% of them had increasingly used public transportation, and 10.63% of them worked harder. People had been affected most by oil price ranked at 49.06%, while those affected by NGV price ranked at 39.6%, LPG at 10.08%, and those affected most by their electricity bill at 1.26%.

Regarding the government’s measure, which could reduce B-2 Diesel oil price by two baht per liter and B-5 Diesel oil price by 40 satang per liter, 34.96% of people considered it was appropriate, 39.02% of people were not sure, 26.02% of people considered it was not appropriate, because 75% of them considered that the government should also cut all types of Benzine oil price. 59.68% of people would like the government to cut excise tax for reducing oil price, while 53.54% considered that the government should cut the marketing margin for reducing oil price.

Regarding the government’s policy to fix LPG, NGV, and fuel tariff (FT) for one year, 58.26% of people agreed, 34.24% of people considered that the government should support all types of energy, 33.15% would like to have energy saving campaign, and 27.17% proposed to construct a public mass transportation system in order to solve the problem of energy and expensive oil price.
