Govt to cut levy to Oil Fund next week

BANGKOK, 9 August 2009 (NNT) – Speaking on his weekly talk show,” Confidence in Thailand with Prime Minister Abhisit, the Prime Minister states that the government will reduce the levy to the Oil Fund to peg diesel price next week.
Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said the government would come up with measures to prevent the retail price of diesel from exceeding 30 baht a liter by cutting the levy to the Oil Fund in an effort to alleviate the public’s higher cost of living. In addition, He indicated that the government was intended to continue pegging the prices of cooking and NGV gases until August next year.
The Prime Minister added that the government’s assistance on social security, which would support not only the social security holders but also their spouses and children, would be endorsed in the Cabinet meeting within next week.
