Diesel price cut by 2 baht/liter to be effective on 14 Aug thumbnail

BANGKOK, 11 August 2009 (NNT) – Energy Minister Dr Wannarat Channukul announced that the price cut on diesel by 2 baht per liter would come into effect on 14 August 2009 while levies on benzene 91 and 95 would be collected into the state Oil Fund.

After attending the Energy Fund Administrative Institute (EFAI) meeting, Dr Wannarat declared that the meeting had endorsed the reduction of diesel price by 2 baht per liter, which would expectedly become effective on 14 August. He said the matter was currently awaiting Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva’s signature before being published in the Royal Gazette.

The Energy Minister further stated that the EFAI also approved the transfer of levies on benzene 91 and 95 from the Energy Conservation Promotion Fund to the state Oil Fund instead in order to facilitate the control over oil price stability.

The levies on benzene 91 and 95 are currently collected at 6.20 baht per liter and 7.50 baht per liter respectively.
