Thai economy to recover in Q4

BANGKOK, 2 July 2009 (NNT) – Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Korbsak Sabhavasu assured that Thai economic figures will turn to the positive in the fourth quarter of 2009.
Mr Korbsak stated that the current economic slump was resulted from many factors, consisting of the global economic crisis, political instability, and the influenza A (H1N1) outbreak. However, he insisted that the government had been attempting to resolve the issues.
The Deputy Prime Minister informed that the government had adopted many policies and measures to tackle the economic crisis within the nation, such as the Strong Thailand 2012 scheme, the 15-year free education, the senior citizen pension fund, the Tonkla Archeep employment project, and the government bond issuance.
Regarding the Tonkla Archeep scheme, Mr Korbsak noted that much public participation had been witnessed in every phase of the project. He added that the scheme offered job opportunities for the unemployed, which will in turn help spur the national economy.
