Domestic economy sees sign of recovery

BANGKOK, 26 July 2009 (NNT) – Speaking on his weekly talk show “Confidence in Thailand with Prime Minister Abhisit”, the Prime Minister said the country has seen a sign of economic recovery while urging all sides to cooperate with the government to deal with some economic problems.

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva stated that the current economic situation had a tendency to move into better direction in line with a strengthened global economy after seeking talks with all domestic and international agencies. Mr. Abhisit also stated that economic figures including consumer confidence indices, investments and exports started to be positive in May and June.

He admitted that agricultural issues were still prevailing including the overhaul of rice price intervention in an effort to register all agriculturalists in the system. In addition, the premier said the Finance Ministry would provide assistance on extension loans and bad debts to the respective cooperatives to lessen market impacts after experiencing the surplus of longans this year.
