DFT: EU emphasizes on eco-friendly products

BANGKOK, 7 September 2009 (NNT) – Director-General of the Department of Foreign Trade (DFT) Chutima Bunyapraphasara declares that the European Union is mainly emphasizing on the climate change issue in considering buying product.

Ms Chutima said the European Commission had conducted a survey with people from the European Union countries on eco-friendly products, and the result came out that most of people preferred purchasing products according to the climate change issue. The survey also showed that people want the manufacturers, each country’s government, and consumers to partake in such process and to be more concerned about the environmental impact.

Ms Chutima added that Thai products that would be exported to the EU should highlight the environmental issue by placing eco-friendly label on their products as well as improving the product quality.
