THAI to increase authorized share capital size

By k on August 30, 2009

BANGKOK, 30 August 2009 (NNT) –Thai Airways International Plc (THAI) Board has given a green light to the company for an increase in the size of its authorized share capital to strengthen the business within December this year.

THAI Executive Board Chairperson Wanlop Phukkanasut announced that the airline planned to increase its authorized share capital, citing that the existing amount last year of 17 billion baht was inadequate for business operation. He expected that the recent movement of the company could boost its profit to 40 billion baht per year from the current one of 25 billion.

As for the overall report of the airline as of July 2009, Mr Wanlop elaborated that the seat booking rate was at 76%, estimating that the average rate for the whole year would be at 70%. He forecasted that there would be more seat booking in the end of this year based on a high number of advance reservations during this period.

Mr Wanlop stated that the airline would not reduce its ticket fares but would focus more on adding values for customers with impressive services instead.
