BANGKOK, Sept 22 (TNA) – Thailand’s Ministry of Industry is holding a “PM Meets American Investors” function at the United States in a hope to boost investor confidence in the kingdom.

Industry Minister Chanchai Chairungruang said officials of the ministry and the Board of Investment (BoI) will be in New York September 20 to 23 for a function which will give Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, attending the United Nations General Assembly in the US now, opportunities to meet top executives of leading companies in the US.

He said the function would serve as a venue for the Thai premier to meet and discuss various issues with senior executives of American companies to boost their confidence in Thailand.

It would also be a good chance for the ministry to propose a way to improve investment promotions measures by increasing the number of business types and incentives, and easing rules and regulations that obstruct substantial investments.

“Giving the premier an opportunity to explain and provide information to American investors himself shows we are paying attention to US investment in Thailand. It will help boost confidence and encourage (additional) American investors to invest in Thailand,” he said. (TNA)
