Govt´s excise tax collection exceeds target
By k on December 13, 2009
BANGKOK, 13 December 2009 (NNT) – The government’s income from excise tax collection in November stood at 33.59 billion THB, an increase of 81.84% from the same month last year, according to the Excise Department.
Director-general of the Excise Department Areephong Phucha-um stated that the excise tax income exceeded the earlier projection of 23.09 billion THB or higher at 40.62%.
According to Mr Areephong, the hike in excise taxes on petrol, beer, liquor and cigarette as well as the economic recovery due to the improvement in domestic consumption and state spending was deemed as a key factor to the higher income collection.
BR> The director-general added that the excise tax income from oil and petroleum products stayed at 12.27 billion THB and 4.20 billion THB for tobacco.
