ASEAN to become single market in next 5 years

BANGKOK, 26 October 2009 (NNT) – Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva pushes ASEAN to become a single market within the next 5 years.

The ASEAN Business Forum 2009 at Plaza Athenee Bangkok discussed the topic of “ASEAN: What the Future Holds”. The Forum elaborated on how the 15th ASEAN Summit and related Summits had seen much progress in realizing their vision of establishing the ASEAN Economic Community in 2010.

Meanwhile, Thailand as the Chair of the 15th ASEAN Summit, had also focused on the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) agreement, tax customs, trade laws and regulations. This would enable ASEAN and their dialogue partners to accomplish their goals and eventually become a single market within the next 5 years.
