Academics : ASEAN talk to restore the country’s positive image

BANGKOK, 24 July 2009 (NNT) – An academic believed that the success of Thailand in organizing the ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting (AMM) could reconstruct the confidence of the international community to the Country.

Professor Doctor Sombat Thamrongtanyawong, the President of the National Institution of Development Administration (NIDA), stated that Thailand’s ability to host the AMM and other relevant meetings was a great success of the country which is now the ASEAN Head. He asserted that it could restore a positive image of the country in the international community’s eyes.

He also believed that the success of the meeting would help stabilize the political condition in the country and would enhance the regional cooperation under the ASEAN frame.
