17 schools in red zone to remain closed until 1 June
BANGKOK, 14 May 2010 (NNT) – The reopening date of 17 schools located near the protest site of the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) has been adjourned to 1 June 2010.
According to Deputy Bangkok Governor Thaya Theepsuwan, a total of 17 educational institutions under the supervision of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) located in the red zone near the anti-government rally site have been ordered to delay the opening of the new semester until 1 June. Of these, 8 schools are in Pathumwan district, 5 in Bangrak district and 4 in Ratchathewi district.
Meanwhile, 418 other schools will open for the new semester on 17 May 2010 as originally scheduled.
